With quality, performance, and culture at the forefront of what we do, we are currently searching for a Construction Superintendent who will be responsible for creating and monitoring project momentum, scheduling, quality control, safety, delegation and assignment of work to the project team and all trade contractors.

    The Construction Superintendent is an essential part of the project team and should be a dynamic leader and a skilled problem solver who can manage people just as effectively as construction activities. The construction superintendent will report directly to the head of construction and may be required to work evenings and weekends in order to keep projects on schedule.

  • Documentation, Reporting and Risk Management:

    - Review documents and collaborate closely with the project team and trades to ensure drawings and specifications are accurate and constructability is achievable.

    - Review and enforce sub-trade contracts and identify discrepancies in scopes of work.

    - Advise project team of potential problems, work interferences, and scheduling difficulties, while assisting in resolving conflicts.

    - Maintain detailed, and thorough documentation. Complete daily site reports, POs, and project photos.

    - Manage all required municipal and provincial inspections.

    - Support and aid in the estimating and material acquisition process.

    - Identify the critical path and proactively anticipate constructability issues.

    - Ensure that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are always met.

    - Develop and implement resource-loaded lookahead schedules and ensure compliance with budget and quality.

    - Review and understand the contract and subcontracts and develop a plan that identifies and mitigates any risks.

    Budget & Cost Control:

    - Review the budget and the underlying estimate to understand the project, and plan ahead to avoid costly issues and project delays.

    - Effectively monitor expenditures, review invoices in detail, and manage labour and material costs.

    Scheduling:

    - Prepare and maintain construction schedules.

    - Identify and solve potential scheduling problems and advise Project Manager of any deviations or potential deviations from the overall schedule or critical path.

    - Order materials and equipment and request sufficient manpower throughout the project to maintain schedule and productivity.

    Health & Safety:

    - Promote a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel on site, monitor safety performance, and oversee the site HSE Coordinator.

    - Develop and implement the project safety plan and lead by example for health and safety practices and procedures.

    Quality and Delivery:

    - Adhere to the highest of quality standards, monitor the performance of sub-trades, and implement techniques to ensure quality issues are addressed proactively.

    - Oversee the occupancy permit inspection process.

    - Oversee the punch-out, suite delivery and deficiency completion process.

    Relationships & Leadership:

    - Supervise and develop team members through regular feedback, training, and coaching.

    - Lead project meetings with internal and external parties.

    - Maintain Birudo’s professional image and keep a clean and organized job site and site office.

  • - 5+ years of construction supervision experience.

    - Trade background with progressive experience in general contracting.

    - Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, personnel management, project execution, cost and quality control, as well as administration.

    - In-depth knowledge of and experience in the construction industry; including building materials, construction methods, specifications, safety and environmental principles, and procedures.

    - Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a project, including monitoring, and coordinating trade partners with the schedule.

    - A strong aptitude for understanding online (virtual) construction management platforms such as Jonas Premier, Procore and Office Suites.
